Since the opening of architect Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Bilbao nearly a decade ago, native-born new masters, like architect Calatrava, have been redefining the skylines of cities around the world. In Danta Cruz de Tenerife on the Canary Islands stands a maserpiece designed by Calatrava - The Auditorio - a large overhanging wing, known by locals as 'The Wave'. Calatrava's urban recreation center, the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, is sited in a dried riverbed.
